Catoctin Creek Unveils Shenandoah Gin, Expands Core Spirits in Virginia

Catoctin Creek Unveils Shenandoah Gin

Virginia-based craft distiller Catoctin Creek Distilling Company will launch three new products in February 2026, exclusively through Virginia ABC stores. The release includes the heritage-led Shenandoah Gin and new one-litre formats of its Applejack and Roundstone Rye Whisky. The launch is significant because it combines regional storytelling with practical format expansion, reinforcing the brand’s roots while meeting the evolving needs of consumers across the Commonwealth.

Shenandoah Gin draws inspiration from an old Appalachian recipe and delivers a fruit-forward profile led by natural strawberry and pawpaw flavours. Its distinctive pink colour comes from black carrot juice, not artificial additives. Bottled at 46% ABV, the gin reflects Catoctin Creek’s small-batch approach and focus on natural ingredients. Alongside it, the Applejack and 100% rye Roundstone Rye Whisky debut in one-litre bottles, offering added value without altering their established flavour profiles.

“Virginia has always been our home, and Virginia ABC has played a key role in bringing our spirits to customers across the Commonwealth,” says Becky Harris, founder and master distiller. “We’re excited to introduce these new expressions and formats, especially the Shenandoah Gin, which celebrates regional flavours and Appalachian tradition.”

Flavoured gins with natural colour and local identity continue to gain attention, while larger pack sizes are increasingly popular among value-conscious consumers. This launch is timely, as craft distillers navigate independence and scale, an issue Catoctin Creek has openly discussed while recently seeking US$5 million to fund expansion.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Ripe strawberry, subtle tropical pawpaw, gentle juniper
  • Palate: Soft fruit sweetness balanced by botanicals
  • Finish: Clean, lightly dry, and refreshing

Shenandoah Gin retails for US$36 per 750ml bottle. The one-litre Applejack is priced at US$27, while the one-litre Roundstone Rye Whisky is priced at US$49. All three products will be available from February 2026 at select Virginia ABC stores statewide.
