Barton 1792 Expands Range with 15-Year Bourbon and First Rye

Barton 1792 Distillery has strengthened its whiskey portfolio with the launch of two new expressions: 1792 Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey and 1792 XV, a 15-year-old cask strength Bourbon. Produced at the historic Bardstown distillery, the releases mark two important milestones for the brand—its first-ever straight rye whiskey and its oldest age-stated, cask strength Bourbon to date. While the rye is rolling out through select U.S. markets, the XV is available exclusively in global travel retail.

1792 Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey

  • First-ever straight rye from the brand
  • Bottled at 50% ABV (100 Proof)
  • Crafted using 1792’s signature Bourbon yeast
  • Rye sourced from Canada, Europe and the northern U.S. for added floral, spicy and herbal complexity

1792 XV Bourbon

  • Aged 15 years in virgin American oak casks
  • Bottled unfiltered at 62.1% ABV
  • Distillery’s first cask strength release
  • Created from carefully selected mature barrels to showcase exceptional depth and character

1792 Kentucky Straight Rye Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Warm baking spices and spiced fruit jellies
  • Palate: Rye spice, cinnamon candy and rich molasses
  • Finish: Official finish notes were not disclosed.

1792 XV Bourbon Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Sweet cola, leather and vanilla extract
  • Palate: Dark cherries, cocoa, rich oak and dark caramel
  • Finish: Official finish notes were not disclosed.

Ross Cornelissen, Master Distiller, Barton 1792 Distillery, said, “We felt the rye reached its peak at 100 proof. Here, the whiskey showcases a seamless integration of rye spice, oak and yeast influence. Many seasoned Bourbon drinkers turn to rye when they’re ready to explore something new. With 1792 Bourbon’s high-rye mash bill, this release offers fans a familiar spice profile with a recognisable rye character.”

Price & Availability

  • 1792 Kentucky Straight Rye: US$39.99 (750ml), available through Sazerac’s distribution network in select markets.
  • 1792 XV Bourbon: US$249.99 (1L), available exclusively in travel retail at select airports, including Los Angeles International Airport, San Francisco International Airport, and Incheon International Airport.
